Welcome
Welcome to the new CAIDC Website CAIDC members and friends!
I am writing to tell you about our plans for the winter and spring of 2011, to provide a sum-up of issues and activities and to encourage your continued membership and participation……and, to welcome you to the new and improved CAIDC website.
Looking Ahead with Enthusiasm
There are several things to note and look forward to during the winter and early spring of 2011: First, release of this new and improved CAIDC website. Second, an Annual General Meeting in February, a holdover from 2010. Third, the CAIDC Conference to be held at the new Ottawa Conference Centre on May, 11, 12 and 13 with the theme Developing the Future. As CIDA is not planning to hold its International Cooperation Days in 2011, our conference promises to be the largest event in 2011 with a focus on international development. Please mark the dates on your calendar and stay tuned for further notices coming to you through the CAIDC website and the CAIDC listserve. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
Looking Back with Gratitude
In 2010 we continued to advocate with CIDA and other agencies on behalf of our members, to disseminate information on jobs and international development issues and to run blogs to help members exchange information and helpful professional hints; these efforts will continue in 2011. As always the strength of our volunteer organization depends on members’ active involvement in contributing ideas and participating in our events. I would like to thank members for their continued support during the past year.
Website Developments
A well-functioning website is a foundation in our communication with membership and to provide the services you expect. In 2010, CAIDC faced some challenges when our website manager left the business in mid-year. The Board contracted a new website designer, manager and host in a competitive process and you are looking at the result. Please take your time and enjoy the new look and functionality our new website, and if you run into problems, please let us know.
Continuing support
We know that many of you were unable to renew your memberships or access the membership information on the website due to the problems we had with our supplier. Now that the website is up and running - including a reliable and easy way for you to send us your membership fees - membership renewal will take place. If you do not receive your notice, contact us at caidcrccdi@gmail.com.
The Board appreciates the continued support of our members across Canada and your interest in helping advance the cause of international development consulting in Canada. We look forward to working with you in 2011 to help resolve the challenges that dedicated professional like you face in carrying out the indispensable work you do.
