Current Membership Policy
The Canadian Association of International Development Professionals (CAIDP) is a non-profit corporation, federally registered in February 1993 to give a voice to the concerns and interests of Canadian international development professionals.
CAIDP has four categories of Members:
- Individual Members: There are individuals who paid their annual individual membership fee. These individuals should not be partners in or employees of any CAIDP Corporate Member. Each individual member shall attend meetings of Members and exercise one (1) vote in respect to each matter, which may come before meetings of Members.
- Corporate Members: There are organizations involved in international development and which became members of the association by paying their annual corporate membership fee. Each corporate member is entitled to appoint two (2) representatives – each one with one (1) vote - to attend and act on behalf of the corporation to meetings of Members.
- Associate Members: There are individuals who have paid their annual associate membership fee and who are not actively working full- or part-time in providing services as an international development professional; or, are employed in an organization or institution that may be involved in international development but who themselves are not providing direct international development services. Each associate member shall attend meetings of Members but cannot exercise their vote in respect to each matter, which may come before meetings of Members.
- Student Members: There are students who paid their annual student membership fee and who have a valid student ID card and are enrolled in a post secondary education program. Each student member shall attend meetings of Members but cannot exercise their vote in respect to each matter, which may come before meetings of Members.
