Somebody on the CAIDC list sent a message asking how to do taxes with UN income so a few people checked their old returns and pieced together the following process (the line numbers may be different this year):

Step 1: enter your UN income in "Other income" (line 130) Step 2: enter the same amount on "Additional deductions" (line 256) Step 3: After processing your tax return Revenue Canada may send a letter asking for "supporting documentation" for the amount claimed under "Additional deductions", in which case you get the relevant UN HR officer to write a one-page "to whom it may concern" letter giving the following information:

> This is to certify that "NAME" is working/worked with the "UN AGENCY" - date of appointment - type of appointment (SSA) - expiry date of appointment - duty station(s) - fees earned - name, title and signature of HR officer

If you are uncertain about this process, check with your accountant first
